Hello, I am Mia
Project manager. Parent. An expat based in Zurich, Switzerland.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Switzerland wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, fresh expectations. Daily tasks seemed more complex than they ought to be.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and a lot of learning on the fly. Yet gradually, routines settled in. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt steady.
Why I Built SilentLakeBreeze
Much of the online guidance was either corporate relocation advice or shallow tourism content. What lacked was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that gap with practical guidance drawn from real-life experiences in Switzerland.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever meaningful changes occur
This site isn't:
- A resource for tourism authorities
- A sponsored review platform
- A generic travel blog
